Hello, wonderful witches!
I’m so excited to say that my upcoming book, The Retrograde Guidebook, was included in a gift guide for 2023! The book publishes on December 12, so if you want to have an all-in-one guide to planetary retrogrades — including calendars of upcoming ones through 2030 — preorder now! And thank you all so much for the early support. It means the world to me.
In today’s newsletter, we’ve got an excerpt recipe from Elsie Wild’s new book, Coffee Magic for the Modern Witch. Her book published on Halloween, which, as a witchy writer, I’m super jealous about. If you love coffee and witchcraft, this is the book for you!
Hocus Pocus, I Really Need To Focus
A magical cold brew latte to keep you focused
(An excerpt from Coffee Magic for the Modern Witch by Elsie Wild.)
If you’ve ever had to pull an all-nighter or cram for a test, you know how important coffee is to keep you awake. However, you can only look at a screen, a textbook, or even work on a task for so long before you lose focus. When you find your mind wandering, take a small break to cook up this beautiful blue brew to help you get back on track.
What You’ll Need
10 ounces cold brew coffee (intuition, balance, levelheadedness, slow things down)
1⁄2 cup vanilla oat milk (grounding energy, determination, increases focus, and mental quickness)
1⁄4 cup fresh or frozen blueberries (optimism, enhances memory, calming, protection, and increases intuition)
1⁄4 teaspoon peppermint extract (positive thoughts, luck, inspiration, mental clarity, speaking up)
1 cardamom pod (clarity, direction, wisdom)
1⁄2 tablespoon maple syrup (learning, decision-making, dealing with change, adaptability)
ice cubes (optional)
How To Brew
Step 1: Make your cold brew. If you do not make your own cold brew, skip this step. You can also make this with regular iced coffee if you prefer.
Step 2: Put your oat milk, blueberries, peppermint extract, cardamom, and maple syrup in a blender.
Step 3: Blend until smooth and a lovely purple/blue color. Pour into a bowl or milk pitcher and use your milk frother, or a whisk, to froth your milk.
Step 4: Take your cold brew and pour over ice in a tall glass. Take your milk blend and pour it on top of the cold brew; do not mix!
Step 5: Sip and get back to work!
For a Dash of Magic…
For best results, make this on a Wednesday, which is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, learning, and understanding.
This isn’t just a study aid or a way to beat the 3 p.m. slump. This is great to sip if you need to focus on a big decision you need to make, stay sharp in an unfamiliar place, have an important conversation, or give your intuition a boost.
The blue color of the milk can help open up your throat chakra.
In the next issue…
The next newsletter will have… well, I’m not sure yet. We’ll find out together! BUT, it will be after Thanksgiving, as we’re heading to Florida this week to spend time with the in-laws and their ADORABLE new puppy, Huckleberry.
See you then!
This recipe is definitely on my list. Congratulations on your book making the list!
Coffee magic...I love it!
