Hello, wonderful witches.
I’m sure many of you are feeling the same dread that’s completely overtaken my day today. I don’t want to send out a post that says everything will be OK — because we don’t actually know that, and my intuition is telling me some pretty nasty things. I DO want to send out a post saying that this witch has your back, and I’m here to support all of you as we deal with what’s to come.
Mental health calls have been off the charts in Chicago today, so please share this information for anyone who needs it:
Today is Day 1. Let’s take the day to sit in our feelings, do a little ritual for emotional peace, and then check back in tomorrow. It’s ALRIGHT to feel hopeless, scared, and frustrated. Compartmentalizing those emotions will only serve as a separation between you and what needs to be done. So feel it. And when you’re ready and able, begin to fight back.
It’s a dark day for many of us, so here’s a recipe for a simmer pot to keep on the stove for the rest of the day. Bathe your senses in something delightful, at least for a moment.
Simmer Pot for Emotional Peace
Fill a large pot halfway with water.
Add orange slices (positivity), cinnamon (protection), cloves (banishing), sage (cleansing), and nutmeg (breaking down obstacles).
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
Leave on the stove as long as desired, adding more water as necessary.
Enjoy the scent, and reach out to a friend today to see how they’re doing.
Thank you for this! I look forward to doing the simmer pot. I’ve never done one before, so this will be a nice, simple adventure.
