As many of you know, unless Kitchen Witch gets more subscribers, the site is folding. What do you think should I do with the social media accounts? Any and all suggestions welcome.
I think it's hard to folks to see what the content looks like if nothing is available for free before they decide to subscribe. Many substack blogs offer some free content then charge a subscription...same with some Patreon accounts. Maybe you can selectively offer some content free on Twitter or Facebook to generate interest in subscriptions?
There’s always been one free issue every month, and every post for the last few weeks has been free - I’m not sure how Substack marks it on the site though, maybe it’s just poor communication. I’ll look into it! Thanks also re: Witchvox! I thought they shut down! I’ll email you some links. <3
I think I misunderstood your question, btw - I thought you meant just for social media, but did you actually mean for the entire newsletter? My answer is different for that, haha
If you're trying to build interest, you have to advertise. I didn't even know you were closing down. Too bad. Finally had a pitch I thought would fit you. But at the end of the day, just my own question to you. Do you feel like you've done your absolute best to promote this? Is this what you imagined? You want to offer information and make money. Who is your audience? What is your target? Have you thought about that? It's work. It really is. But it is possible to grow.
That’s part of the frustration. I’ve advertised, a lot. And it worked for a while but subs tapered off, which I can understand. And I went real heavy into social which got some subscriptions but not much engagement. I’ve run promos and specials. I’ve tried posting discussions with very few responses (granted they weren’t completely enthralling and something I probably should have tried more). I’ve asked for comments on issues and feedback and never heard from anyone. I’ve teased issues and shared issues and tagged writers and talked it up everywhere I could. But people aren’t reading it. I’ve had a notice about the newsletter shutting down without more subscribers in the last three or four issues, all free issues, all emailed to the entire list. But still nothing. I’m not sure what else I can do. I got pretty frustrated and stopped social for a while, which made literally no difference at all. I would love to keep it going, but how can I grow if my subscribers don’t read the content?
Sadly, I haven't been receiving the emails. I just went to log in, and I wasn't even registered. Obviously, since I recieved this one, I'm on file somewhere. Maybe others are having the same issue and aren't even aware of it.
I think I misunderstood Joshua's question to be what do I want to do with the social media only, when I think he meant the newsletter entirely. Which one do you mean?
My goal for the newsletter has always been to give witchy writers a voice for reasonable pay, and to bring the folklore and magic of food to the forefront.
I need 53 more subscribers. What do you mean by a newsletter email? It's already a newsletter going to everyone's email. I think cutting down the frequency from weekly might be a good plan.

I am also happy to share a post on Witchvox to generate interest, but it would have to link to content without requiring a subscription fee first

ahh what I meant to say was, share on the Witchvox Facebook page! yes the site itself shut down over a year ago...done!
Thank you so much!
What do you want to do with it? I think that's the first question.
I’m not entirely sure! I was thinking posting more detailed recipes and spellwork, but that’s about as far as I got.

It’s so strange - this is the first email I have ever received. I had to verify to log in, in order to comment -
So I’m wondering if this is some kind of algorithm problem.
Please don’t lose heart - your content is so valued. It’s just that somehow, this hasn’t been reaching many of us!
I’m going to look into this pretty closely since it seems to be a common problem - thank you for commenting!!

Oh dear! That's terrible. I wonder what the issue is. I'll dive into the backend on my side and see what I can find out.

yes, maybe bi-weekly? and special features/timing for the major pagan feast days?
I think that's probably the best option at this point!
I certainly will - thank you for the support!
